Last week, Blizzard confirmed they're working on a new strategy game, though we've not heard much beyond that. Now, details about its development are slowly emerging and it turns out, they've been developing it for nearly five years.
PC Gamer reports the game's project lead, Craig Amai, confirmed this began as a "humble pitch," now featuring a "team full of caring and passionate people sharing a vision." Stating he "couldn’t be prouder to be part of [it]," Amai's LinkedIn page also confirms this project began in 2017.

Blizzard’s New Survival Game Entered Development in 2017
Elsewhere, Blizzard president Mike Ybarra confirmed that he's "played many hours" of this unknown game already, along the development team. Blizzard describes the game as:
"A place full of heroes we have yet to meet, stories yet to be told, and adventures yet to be lived. A vast realm of possibility, waiting to be explored."
