Nier Reincarnation joins the fate of various other Square Enix mobile games, as the free-to-play mobile RPG will be shutting down in a few months. While it’s a true shame for those who were invested in the game, this is something a lot of people saw coming, as the company keeps doing this.
On Twitter, the game‘s official account confirmed that this app will be closing down on April 30th, while the final story chapter will be released on March 28. Square Enix even revealed a roadmap for the game’s final story chapters, letting players finish this story before they can’t play it anymore.
While it’s a shame that Square Enix is closing Nier Reincarnation like this, they are helping players get to the story’s end properly. Players will get free Premium Summon tickets for logging in and they can also summon 100 times a day, which wouldn’t have been possible before. Free gems and stamina will also be given every week, ensuring that players will be able to brute force their way through the story.
As we mentioned earlier, Square Enix canceling mobile games is a pretty common occurrence, as the company has done this for the past couple of years. Even when using licenses like Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, or Star Ocean, the company will just de-list them if they aren’t making money. These quick cancelations are why fans have a hard time dedicating themselves to these mobile games, ironically making Square Enix the equivalent of a snake eating itself to death.
It’s a shame that Nier Reincarnation is the latest game in this beloved series, though we hope this cancelation is eventually followed up by a console game. The series’ high mark is still 2017’s Nier: Automata, which introduced iconic character 2B and had some incredible combat, courtesy of PlainumGames.

Fans curious about Nier Reincarnation can still download the mobile game today, though they only have until April 30 to play. Hopefully, someone will document the game’s story and post it on YouTube.
