After nearly two decades, Okami continues to receive tons of love and support from fans all over the world, especially now that a sequel was announced during the 2024 Game Awards.

Hideki Kamiya, the director of Okami, has always been vocal on social media when it comes to pushing for a sequel of the beloved action-adventure game. He's so active on social media that he frequently replies to everyone who tries to interact with him.

Unfortunately, not all these interactions are wholesome. In a recent X post, Mr. Kamiya said he was touched by the reaction videos to Okami 2's announcement. He then added that the person behind the touching reaction video was someone who he snarled at on social media, prompting him to regret his previous mean tweets.

Since then he has posted an apology and a thank you message, and many Okami fans appreciated his efforts to retract his previous posts. Some say that this is the redemption arc that Mr. Kamiya needed before the release of Okami 2.

However, Mr. Kamiya might be having the challenges of a redemption arc as he called someone an idiot for thinking that the Okami 2 trailer was made by an AI. To be fair, seeing these questions usually warrants someone to be called something else entirely, and Mr. Kamiya's reaction is valid to an extent.

We surely hope Hideki Kamiya gets over this redemption arc and comes out victorious.

Okami 2 will likely feature the Celestial Brush again, a unique mechanic in Okami that lets players brush over different environments to produce fascinating results. The trailer showed a brush encircling a flower, making it bloom.

Considering that the next-gen consoles have very capable hardware, we'll likely see this feature make a comeback.
