If you're starting Palworld, you may have encountered Ancient Pal Manuscripts.
They may seem like pointless clutter initially, but there’s more to them than you’d think.
These manuscripts are your shortcut to enhancing your Pals' abilities, such as crafting, mining, and cooking.
This guide will show you the easiest ways to obtain Ancient Pal Manuscripts and how to use them effectively.
How To Get Ancient Pal Manuscripts
There are two main ways to get your hands on Ancient Pal Manuscripts in Palworld: Bounty Hunting and Pal Expeditions.
Every approach has advantages; you'll have a steady stream of manuscripts to pick up whenever you like.
Bounty Hunting
One of the best ways to obtain Ancient Pal Manuscripts is by participating in Bounty Hunting. Find NPCs on the map with a purple target icon to join in.
These targets are Bounties that involve taking down specific enemies or completing certain challenges.
Every time you finish a bounty, you'll get Successful Bounty Tokens, which you can trade for Ancient Pal Manuscripts.
After collecting the tokens, visit a Vigilante Bounty Officer in any town (like Small Settlement or Fisherman’s Point).
These NPCs will give you three Ancient Pal Manuscripts for each token you turn in.
Bounty hunting is a dependable way to rack up manuscripts, especially if you’re into combat missions.
Remember to check the difficulty of the Bounty target before you head in; some can be tricky.
Pal Expeditions
Another way to get your hands on Ancient Pal Manuscripts is by sending your Pals on Pal Expeditions.
Expeditions are unlocked once you reach level 15 and build the Pal Expedition Station.
You only need 20 Wood, 20 Stone, and 5 Paldium Fragments to make the station.
Once built, hop on the station and pick your next expedition spot.
The harder the expedition, the more Ancient Pal Manuscripts you'll get as a reward.
These are some solid expedition spots for manuscripts:
- Cave in the Grassland (5-7 manuscripts)
- Forest’s Secret Realm (7-10 manuscripts)
- Volcanic Inferno Cave (10-13 manuscripts)
- Hidden Ruins of the Desert (13-15 manuscripts)
- Spirit Blossom Cave (17-20 manuscripts)
- Dark Cave of Feybreak (20-22 manuscripts)
The length of the expedition pretty much decides how many manuscripts you can get—longer ones tend to give you more.
You can gather resources passively with expeditions to keep working on other priorities.
How To Use Ancient Pal Manuscripts
Once you’ve collected enough Ancient Pal Manuscripts, use them to boost your Pals’ abilities.
You can do this through the Pal Labor Research Laboratory, which unlocks at level 20.
The laboratory can be constructed using 10 Ingots and 5 Paldium Fragments, so check your inventory for the necessary resources.
When you check out the pedestal in the lab, you'll open up a skill tree where you can use Ancient Pal Manuscripts to upgrade your Pals' passive skills.
These skills let your Pals do their job around the base more efficiently, and the upgrades can significantly enhance your overall gameplay.
You can level up these main skills with Ancient Pal Manuscripts:
Every skill upgrade takes some Ancient Pal Manuscripts, and you'll need more as you climb up the skill tree.
Upgrades such as Mining and Handiwork come in handy early because they immediately affect resource gathering and crafting.
You want to upgrade Power Generation, as it's essential for keeping your base powered up.
Keep in mind that Ancient Pal Manuscripts are limited, so be smart with how you spend them.
