How do Palworld passives work?

Upon catching your first Starter Pal, you'll discover its various Skills, including passive ones. Unlike active skills that grant new abilities, passive skills are traits that can either enhance or degrade your Pal's stats.

Palworld boasts over 60 unique Passive Skills, each having three levels. These skills are integrated into your Pals' stats, and you can check them out by visiting the Pal Box in your base.

How to view Palworld passives

To take a look at your Pals' stats, you'll need to open the Pal Box Management Menu and select the Pal you want to examine. You'll find both the active and passive skills of your Pal here. Some of the passives are useful, while others aren't.

Palworld passives can influence the outcome of battles and enhance your base in a number of different ways. When preparing for a battle or assigning tasks, make sure to choose the right Pal based on the passives that align with your objectives.

All Pals possess different sets of passives, which are randomised upon capture. The diversity of traits necessitates that you carefully consider which Pals you should select for your party. The Party tab in your inventory also shows you your Pal's active, companion, and passive skills.

Passive skills are categorised into three tiers, with higher tiers providing greater bonuses or debuffs. Take note of these tiers, as the higher the level, the more the passive will affect your Pal's performance.

While captured Pals have random passive skills, you can exert some control over trait selection through breeding. Breeding multiple Pals with the passives that you want can enable you to pass down their passives to the offspring. Thus, you can gain some control over the passives, and use your selectively-bred Pal to win your battles for you.
