Splitgate Increases PlayStation Player Count After Halo Infinite's Release

Following Halo Infinite's release late last year, developer 1047 Games has revealed that the PlayStation player count for their 2019 shooter game, Splitgate, has increased significantly.

Speaking in an interview with The Loadout (thanks VGC), 1047's CEO, Ian Proulx, mentioned their game's improvement in terms of player count, primarily for their PlayStation players after Halo Infinite was fully released last December. Part of his statement reads as:

“I’m actually glad (Halo Infinite) is out. I honestly think that, in the long run, Halo Infinite and Splitgate will help each other. I think that there’s just so much noise and so many battle royales right now, and (these two games) are bringing people over to the arena shooter genre.”

Proulx also expressed how those games raise the genre as a whole, mentioning how some kids are still unable to play games like Quake and Unreal. Proulx said:

“You know, there’s a lot of kids who have never played Halo, right? There’s a lot of kids who have never played Quake or Unreal Tournament. They’ve never played this kind of game. And getting them exposure to that I think is just a good thing for the genre as a whole.”

Splitgate was released in 2019 but became popular when its open console beta released in July 2021. At the time, it saw a PS and Xbox release and was often regarded as "Halo meets Portal." Make sure to follow us for more gaming news and updates as it happens.
