November 18: The game is finally out now. We will continue to update you here as more information comes in

By now, most of Scarlet and Violet's Pokedex seems to have leaked. This includes some surprise new evolutions for old friends, such as Primeape, introduced in Generation 1! Here is how to get Annihilape in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

This new evolution marks only the second Ghost and Fighting dual-type Pokemon after Marshadow's release back in Alola. Due to their abilities and strengths, this typing should open up new opportunities for trainers that want to use Annihilape in their teams.

Make sure you pre-order Pokemon Scarlet and Violet in time for release. We've also got a look at how to get our favourite starters Cyndaquil, Rowlet, and Scorbunny in the new generation, and here are the Rotom phone cases we can get!

How to get Annihilape in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

To get yourself a brand new Annihilape, you'll first need to get a Mankey, and evolve it to Primeape. This can be done when the Pokemon hits level 28 or above.

There's no specific level for Annihilape, though, but there is one requirement: a Primeape must use the move Rage Fist 20 times in order for it to evolve into Annihilape. Currently, we're unsure at what level this move is learned, or whether you can use a TM to teach it the move. We're also not sure if there is any way to count how many times you've used a move, other than keeping track yourself outside of the game.

What is Annihilape in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet?

Unless you've been staying away from leaks, you'll likely have seen Primeape's new evolution, Annihilape. It's a Fighting- and Ghost-type 'Mon, which got a surprise new evolution, much like Persian in Sword and Shield.

Annihilape is fittingly called the Rage Monkey Pokemon, and we can figure out the unfortunate happenings during its evolution from the Scarlet and Violet Pokedex entry:

When its anger rose beyond a critical point, this Pokemon gained power that is unfettered by the limits of its physical body.

This - coupled with the Sun Pokedex entry for Primeape, which states that it 'got so angry that it died' - tells us that Annihilape essentially transcended from its physical form into a very angry ghost.

In terms of ability, Annihilape has the same as Mankey and Primeape before it. The Vital Spirit ability prevents sleeping, and will increase the chance of meeting higher-level Pokemon in the wild for battles. The moves available for Annihilape to learn include Ghost-type moves, and the Fighting moves that Primeape can use. As such, it has an impressive repertoire.
