With the remake of Resident Evil 4 having arrived late last month, it’s a great time to be a horror game buff in search of something to play with the lights off and scare yourself silly.

Some of these fearless fans have simply set the game to the highest difficulty possible, picked out their favourite weapon and dived into the terrifying action, but others are already seeking out interesting ways to spice up their playthroughs.

While one way to achieve this is by downloading mods that add the likes of Thomas the Tank Engine, some pandas and even a mouse version of Ashley to the game, if you think you’d make a good drill sergeant, you might want to check out a streamer’s current challenge run instead.

Fancy playing through Resident Evil 4 Remake by screaming instructions at your screen?

Having previously killed Salazar by throwing golden eggs at him, Twitch personality Larxa is no stranger to playing games in unorthodox ways, with her latest Resi Remake playthrough seeing her take on the game using voice controls.

This is a strategy she’s previously employed in Elden Ring to great effect, having not only beaten the game using her dulcet tones, but also bested the infamous Malenia following a tumultuous and talk-filled tussle.

Setting up a new Resi-oriented profile for the same recognition software used during her runs through the Lands Between, the streamer made sure to test it out before jumping into the run properly, admitting: “(When) I did this for Elden Ring, it was manageable, but Resident Evil is a shooter, so I don’t know (how it’ll go).”

Despite encountering some early teething troubles, Larxa seemed to eventually get pretty comfortable moving around and shooting her way through cultists, using aim-assisted shots triggered by the ‘pang’ command she’d set up as an easy way to inform Leon to fire away.

As you can see in her most recent stream of the run, the ideal strategy for voice control players does involve some tactical running away from a few enemies that are deadly in close-quarters combat, but Larxa has managed to use it to defeat an El Gigante, though this did use up an awful lot of her ammo.

That said, if she can show anywhere near the determination she did during her verbal assaults on Elden Ring, odds are the streamer will have a good chance of making this run a successful one too.

Regardless of whether you’re now buying a megaphone in order to ensure Leon can hear you during the Resident Evil 4 Remake’s more frenetic moments, make sure to check out our massive array of helpful guides and updates on DLC for it.
