Skyrim mod gives you the chance to go figure skating on Winterhold’s icy shore

Modders have historically put a lot of effort into making Skyrim feel as immersive and realistic as possible, bringing everything from destructible furniture to gear-equipping animations and dynamically-learning NPCs to the game.

This has also included a lot of interesting new activities for the Dragonborn to get up to, from ruling Solitude to advising a Jarl as their court wizard and even becoming a druid by dressing up as a spriggan.

Now, though, a new mod is offering them the chance to brave the cold of the province’s wintery conditions and show off their graceful figure skating moves.

Have you ever wanted to skate across Skyrim’s frozen icebergs?

The mod in question is naturally called ‘Figure Skating in Skyrim’ and is the work of modder JamesHalliday, whose previous work has added some new animations to the game and brought the one ring from The Lord of The Rings to old school Skyrim.

This time, they’ve created what they’re calling their “crowning achievement” or “magnum opus” in modding, by bringing the elegant art of figure skating to the game via some complex animations and top-notch gear.

Said gear will have to be crafted, meaning a trip to your local blacksmith to borrow their forge and tanning rack, where you’ll be able to make some skates and a unitard or dress to skate it, with the tights of whatever you choose automatically matching your character’s skin tone.

Once you’re suited and booted, you’ll need to head for the province’s northern coast, where you’ll find three icebergs which JamesHalliday has flattened out in order to make them suitable for skating. If you’ve slain the dragons living below it, the frozen lake in the Forgotten Vale is also an appropriate skating spot.

Having arrived at one of these locations, it’s time to equip your skates, which will cause your character’s animations to be changed to skating ones. If you’re planning to skate with a follower, they’ll need to be wearing skates too, making kuroko137’s ‘Dress Up Lover's NPC Outfit Changer - SE’ a necessity, along with Hoamaii’s ‘A Skyrim Waltz SE’, which will bestow you with the power required to activate the animations aimed at those skating as a pair.

You’ll also need to grab Felisky384’s ‘Dynamic Animation Replacer’, expired6978’s ‘RaceMenu’, DServant’s ‘360 Movement Behavior SE’ and any required mods for either those mods or the two mentioned earlier in order to get things working as they should.
