Modders have put an awful lot of effort into making sure Skyrim has continually evolved and expanded in the years since it was first released into the world.
Many have focused on changing the game by adding massive new questlines, fresh movement animations, and luxurious spas to it, with a few even going as far as completely redesigning how alchemy works or giving you the chance to become high priest of your own temple.
If you’re someone who loves embracing the darker side of the Dawnguard DLC and turning your Dragonborn into a powerful creature of the night, but find the vanilla game’s Vampire Lord power to be a bit underwhelming or ineffective, a new mod might be worth taking a look at.
Desperate to unlock the full potential of your Vampire Lord abilities in Skyrim?
The mod in question is called ‘Better Vampire Lords 1.1 SE-AE’, and is the work of modder Brehanin. A lot of their previous projects have also focused on the malevolent force trying to blot out Skyrim’s sun, having given them better weapons and a vast underground city to live in.
This time, they’ve decided to have a go at creating a comprehensive overhaul of the Vampire Lord form that’ll fit perfectly alongside their massively-popular mod ‘Better Vampires 8.8 SE-AE’, which brings a lot more depth to the abilities of regular blood-suckers.
With this latest work installed, you’ll be able to add an array of freshly added or enhanced perks, spells, and abilities, which will scale alongside your character’s progression, until they can: “invoke eclipses, fly, break open locks, and show (their true) might as a Vampire Lord!”.
Many of these powers can seemingly be accessed by progressing through a massively expanded perk tree, which now boasts 35 unlockable skills, as opposed to the vanilla 11, including new and powerful spells that can summon the likes of an ‘Anti-life Shell’ or ‘Harrowstorm’ that’ll decimate mortal enemies.
The mod also makes some more mundane, but incredibly useful, changes to how you can interact with the game world while in your Vampire Lord forms, including making it possible to “loot, activate, and feed on” your victims and reducing the height of the Lord’s model, so you won’t have trouble getting through low doorways.
Many of the mod’s additions and alterations are also able to be toggled on or off via SkyUI’s mod configuration menus, allowing you to fine-tune the experience to suit your preferences.
Regardless of whether your vampiric Dragonborn is now celebrating the fact they won’t risk concussing themselves while invading mortal homes to feed, make sure to follow us for more updates on The Elder Scrolls 6 and the interesting world of Skyrim modding.
