Modders have put a lot of effort into making sure Skyrim has continually evolved and expanded in the eleven years since it was first released into the world.
A lot of these efforts have focused on making the game’s combat a lot more interesting and in-depth, with new weapons, spells and animations helping to make killing enemies more satisfying than ever before.
For those who enjoy playing as a traditional sword and shield-wielding warrior, a new mod might make the perfect battle-themed Black Friday gift for your character.
Is your Skyrim warrior in the market for a new shield?
The mod in question is called ‘Legendary Alpha Shields 2’, and is the work of modder chucacu. A lot of their other previous work has also focused on improving your Skyrim loadout, by adding the likes of Thor’s hammer or a panther-inspired suit of armour to it.
This time, they’ve released a sequel to their popular ‘Legendary Alpha Shields’ mod from last year, which brought a range of beautifully rendered shields inspired by examples from real-world history to Tamriel.
The new mod simply adds to this selection, delivering 15 new shields to the game for you to craft at a blacksmith’s forge, though you will need to be a fairly accomplished smith that’s earned the ebony smithing perk in order to do so.
As you can see in the video above, the selection of shields features some great variety when it comes to designs, with some exhibiting intimidating and jagged motifs that would be a great fit for any Nordic or Orcish barbarian build.
Meanwhile, others adopt a more Roman or Greek form, being rounded and featuring colourful depictions of animals, mythical creatures or gods, which, while not entirely lore-friendly to the Elder Scrolls universe, would probably look great in the possession of a Legate of the Imperial Legion.
On the other hand, if you’re playing as a mercenary without any serious cultural or factional ties, grabbing one of these will certainly help your character stand out from the vanilla hireling crowd.
Regardless of whether you’re now bashing a bandit in the face with your swanky new shield and hoping their blood will wash off easily, make sure to follow us for more updates on The Elder Scrolls 6 and the interesting worlds of Skyrim and Elden Ring modding.
