Sony has been on a tear regarding Bloodborne-related fan projects. Not that long ago, they removed a fanmade 60 fps patch for their 30 fps PS4 game. Now, they have removed the PS1 demake, causing fans to wonder what Sony’s deal is.

PSU confirmed that the PS1 fan project has been taken down, annoying fans who wanted to try out this oddity. While it made some sense to remove the 60 fps patch, removing a fan demake that doesn’t hurt your PS4 classic has been met with confusion. Considering the lack of a major remaster or remake, this has left gamers even more bewildered.

Lance McDonald, who worked on the Bloodborne 60 fps patch, is hoping that all of these DMCA takedowns will lead to a remaster for the PS5. McDonald does admit on X that this is his “copium theory,” so it’s not based on any real information, but it’s one way to deal with what’s happening. It’s just a shame that Sony are set on doing this when they seemingly aren’t doing anything with their game.

For all the whining fans do when it comes to remakes and remasters, many of them really want to play a better version of this FromSoftware RPG. Gamers everywhere were hoping that this title would get a 60 fps patch when the PS5 launched, but that didn’t happen. It was confusing, especially since various Dark Souls games did get a free 60 fps patch.

At the least, fans can still play Bloodborne on their PS4 and PS5. Even at 30 fps, this remains an excellent soulslike RPG that fans of the genre will enjoy, assuming they haven’t played it yet. Then again, those who have played it have also replayed it numerous times, with different builds and strategies.

That’s what we know about Sony taking down these beloved fan projects. For more PlayStation news, PS5 owners can also read about the Halo series potentially coming to their console.
