How to disable turrets in Starfield
To disable turrets in Starfield, it's actually a relatively simple process. If you're wary enough of their line of sight, you can find your way to the computer device that controls them. This console device will then allow you to shut down the connected turrets.
Once you've made it to the console, all you need to do is select the 'Deactivate Units' option. This will power down the turret, meaning you're free to roam wherever you please. By using this method, however, it has the potential to attract the confusion, and therefore attention, of your enemies. Make sure you've got a plan of action after you've disabled the turrets - you may need your weapons.
How to hack turrets in Starfield
If you're planning on going the stealthier route, then switching the target of the turrets is definitely the method you want to implement. There's a lot to be said for sneaking around and sticking to the shadows, and if you don't want those pesky turrets shooting you out before you even have a chance to get where you're going, then we'll talk you through how best to disable them.
Similarly to the disable method, you will need to locate the power source of the turret. Then, once you've found the computer console it's connected to, you can alter the focus of attack from you, onto your foes instead. Talk about betrayal.
Once you've hacked the turrets, they will do all the legwork for you and take out enemies within their line of sight. In particularly gruelling fights, this is a method that can save you a lot of time and effort, and really work in your favour.
Or just destroy them
The slightly more bombastic route when dealing with turrets is to simply destroy them. And yes, it's exactly what we mean. With whatever weapon you have equipped, you can reign down fire upon the pesky machines and give them a taste of their own medicine. It's an effective method, but not without downsides.
They will still fight back, considering they're machines programmed to shoot at you. So even if you can take them out relatively quickly, you're almost guaranteed to suffer some form of damage before you can do so.
But there you have it, that's everything you need to know about disabling, hacking, or destroying turrets in Starfield! While you're here, be sure to check out our other guides, including how to heal as well as how to use photo mode.
