Breakdown
- Stellar Blade will have post-launch content
- This includes free costumes and New Game Plus
- Paid DLC for the game hasn't been determined
Stellar Blade is going to do what a lot of AAA games don’t, by giving fans free costumes and New Game Plus post-launch. The AAA space is already filled with women who are sexy and ridiculously powerful, but free content with no microtransactions feels like a genuine gesture.
In an interview with Ruliweb (via Push Square), game director Kim Hyung Tae confirmed that there wouldn’t be any microtransactions coming to the spectacle fighter. Kim Hyung Tae also confirmed that New Game Plus would be coming as part of a free update, alongside various costume bundles for the bootylicious Eve.
“We would like to make it clear here that Stellar Blade does not require any additional expenses that gamers are not aware of other than the cost of purchasing the package,” he said.
As for Stellar Blade DLC, the director wouldn’t confirm if these were coming to the slasher, so fans technically have a complete experience right away. Considering all of the fanfare this game has gotten, we wouldn’t be too surprised if this ends up getting a sequel in the future. Let’s just hope that Eve’s first adventure is good enough to warrant one, since this game could easily coast on its sex appeal.
Fans can actually try the Stellar Blade demo now on PS5 to see if the combat is to their liking or not. The demo actually launched a bit earlier before Sony pulled it from the PSN, but that’s finally been rectified.
Despite the constant fanservice being shown, the devs are making sure that Stellar Blade is a hack-and-slash experience that will challenge players. The game’s ultra revealing “flesh suit,” for example, actually removes Eve’s shields, making her take more damage and giving players a hard time. SHIFT UP really wants to make a good impression in the console scene and they might do that with this game.
Stellar Blade will be coming to the PlayStation 5 later this month, on April 26. The game’s demo can be downloaded right now, so fans should check it out.
