Capcom’s latest fighting game has joined the ranks of Monster Hunter and Resident Evil, achieving the company’s coveted Platinum status. As of December 31, 2024, Street Fighter 6 has sold 4.4 million units, building on the four million copies it had already moved by September last year across Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and PC.
The game’s release was met with critical acclaim, with both fans and critics praising its revamped art style and fresh direction. No one expected Ken to look like a homeless man, but here we are — and we love it. It also became the first entry in the series to utilize Capcom’s proprietary RE Engine, delivering improved performance, enhanced visuals, rollback netcode, and full crossplay support.
Selling 4.4 million copies is a major achievement for Street Fighter 6, though it still has some ground to cover to surpass Street Fighter V. For all of its controversies, the fifth game sold 7.7 million copies as of December 2024.
Other Capcom titles that have earned Platinum status include Monster Hunter: World, which has sold 21.3 million copies since its release in January 2018. With Monster Hunter: Wilds set to launch in just a few weeks, Capcom expects even greater financial gains from its most-anticipated franchise.
For now, Street Fighter 6 is thriving. Players are enjoying the game more than ever, especially with Mai Shiranui set to arrive in just a few days. Elena from Street Fighter III: New Generation will be joining the roster this spring.
