The Thing and Human Torch will complete the Marvel Rivals roster on February 21, 2025, rounding out the Fantastic Four.
These characters will join Mr. Fantastic and Invisible Woman, who have already been introduced in Marvel Comics. The Thing, famous for his raw power and indestructible rocky body, will fall under the Vanguard category.
Meanwhile, Human Torch brings the heat as a ranged Duelist, laying down major damage from a distance. The game already had some major updates, such as Mr. Fantastic’s stretching and Invisible Woman’s invisibility. And now, The Thing and Human Torch are ready to add more fun, one-of-a-kind features.
The competitive meta is bound to evolve as players experiment with these new abilities and team compositions. February 21 also signals a big update for the game’s competitive scene: the start of the second half of Season 1, which will include a rank reset. Players will see their rankings drop by four divisions.

For example, reaching Diamond I in the first half means starting the second half at Platinum II. Besides the rank reset, players reaching Gold or higher in the first half will score some exclusive costume rewards. Players who reach Grandmaster rank or higher will receive the Crest of Honor, with different designs depending on their rank.
The rewards are a little nudge for players to keep pushing in the competitive scene, but they need to hit 10 competitive matches to grab them after the reset. According to NetEase, each new season will begin with a six-division drop, followed by a four-division drop halfway through. The update dropping on February 21 is likely to shake things up, especially with the character roster and rankings.
Update: Shortly after this article was published, NetEase responded to community feedback by canceling the mid-season rank reset. Other than the rank adjustment, everything else in the update is still on track, including The Thing and Human Torch.
