Netflix has announced that The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep is now available to watch as fans eagerly await the launch of season 4 and the new video game. Considering the major changes that are coming to the franchise, with Ciri replacing Geralt in the game and Liam Hemsworth replacing Henry Cavill in the series, this anime should hit the spot.
As fans can see in the trailer below, Geralt’s new adventure is very Aquaman-esque, as he tries to prevent a war between humans and mermen. It’s definitely not the type of adventure we expected to see Geralt in, at least if you’re not up to date with his lore. Fans who’ve played the games or read his books know that this isn’t his first encounter with mermen.
If nothing else, it’s good to know that Netflix got Doug Cockle back for The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep. Obviously, this isn’t his first time voicing Geralt, but it is the first time he’s done so in an anime movie. From what we’ve heard in the trailer, it’s clear that Cockle still has that Geralt voice down pat and he’ll probably kill it like he kills all those enemies.
The need for more Witcher material is at an all-time high, as fans are impatient for Season 4 on Netflix. Liam Hemsworth isn’t the most popular actor these days and viewers are hoping that he proves to be a suitable replacement for Henry Cavill. While it’s hard to complain about a new anime, given how gorgeous the animation looks, only time will tell if this is a quality movie.
Fans can say what they want about The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep, but it might get them to play The Witcher 3 all over again. We’ve seen how the show can influence gamers on Steam, as players might want to start Geralt’s adventure from the very beginning. Even better if they haven’t played the expansion yet.
