The topic of skill-based matchmaking (SBMM) in Warzone 2 often divides the community. While some are in favour of more competitive matches, others are after a more casual experience when dropping into Call of Duty’s battle royale.

With all eyes moving towards the Season Two update, Infinity Ward and Raven Software continue unveiling more information about what’s in store. The return of the 1v1 gulag alongside huge looting changes suggest major adjustments to core elements of the game are just the start. Will the strength of SBMM be next on the list?

Ahead of the new season, some players have discovered a setting that could grant easier lobbies making it easier to achieve victory.

After tweaking the in-game party search preferences, Reddit user GoonSquadOG asks if switching the primary play style to casual places players in lower-skilled lobbies. “Does this setting actually get you easier lobbies?”

While some think the setting makes a difference, others claim those that use the setting will eventually end up with squadmates that aren’t as good as the party host. “It might get you worse teammates,” says one commenter.

On the other hand, having teammates with a lower K/D ratio could have its advantages. “If I use that feature, the lobbies I get are way easier,” reveals another player.

Since the launch of Warzone 2, players have attempted to bypass SBMM using a range of techniques that include using a VPN or reverse boosting to lower their stats and end up in matches where the chances of them winning are higher.

It’s unclear if this particular feature actually influences SBMM but it goes to show some members of the community are willing to try anything to gain the edge over the opposition.
