The end of the current Warzone cycle is on the horizon. With Season 6 of Call of Duty's battle royale in full swing, the attention of players dropping into the action is turning towards Call of Duty Next and what Raven Software has in store for the future of the game.
With the launch of Modern Warfare 3 on the horizon, Warzone will undergo adjustments alongside the integration of new weaponry and movement changes designed to increase the pace of play.
Ahead of the event, Activision has shared the first look at a brand-new map, with many claiming it shares a heavy resemblance to a hugely popular battlefield.
Warzone fans think new map looks like Verdansk
After sharing a brief overview of what Call of Duty Next will entail on X, user Kalinine took to Reddit, noticing the new map features several similarities to the iconic Verdansk map that made its debut in 2020.
Judging by the comments, they're not the only ones to spot the similarities. One player says: "Looks exactly like that Port side in the Verdansk map that used to overlook Downtown." Another adds: "Verdansk remake? That's a port if I ever saw it. Not a copy of Verdansk but a remake of it."
Since Verdansk disappeared, many have wanted the battle royale map back in rotation, but if recent leaks and rumours are anything to go by, the Warzone Modern Warfare 3 map will be set in the Middle East.

Is Verdansk returning to Warzone?
No, Verdansk is not returning to the PC and console versions of Warzone. But, the map is reappearing in Warzone Mobile when it launches across iOS and Android devices.
Of course, there's every chance Raven Software has a few surprises up its sleeve but for now, many are looking forward to taking a closer look at the layout and which classic multiplayer maps will feature as points of interest.
