Trying to figure out how to unlock DedSec in XDefiant? Unlike the other launch Factions, XDefiant's DedSec first requires you to unlock it before you can use it. With this guide, we’ll be showing you how to gain access to the Watch Dogs 2 hacker group so that you can utilize their unique skills in XDefiant.

Aside from the cyber attackers of DedSec from Watch Dogs 2, you’ll also find the likes of Splinter Cell's Echelon, Ghost Recon's Phantoms, and Libertad, the freedom fighters from Farcry 6.

How to Unlock DedSec in XDefiant

You can unlock DedSec in XDefiant by completing an in-game challenge that requires you to earn 700k XP, granted by playing matches, completing challenges, and killing enemies. This will take around 30 hours to achieve. However, the quickest way to unlock the DedSec faction in XDefiant is to purchase it directly with real money in the in-game store.

XDefiant Factions are the game’s version of having different classes. Each one has its own unique set of abilities, giving players a variety of playstyles to choose from. Not everyone will be able to spend some extra cash for an extra Faction in a video game, so this is a nice way to balance things out between players, letting you also unlock them via in-game actions.

Earning 700k is a bit of a slog - about 30 hours or more - though you'll progress faster the better you do. After all, winning matches, completing objectives, and defeating enemies all grant additional experience points. As such, you'll want to get up to speed with the XDefiant meta right away if you're grinding to unlock DedSec as soon as possible.

DedSec Abilities in XDefiant

Before you go spending your money or dedicating time to unlock DedSec, here’s a quick rundown of abilities that the Faction has to offer:

  • Hijack (Ability) – Hack into deployed enemy abilities to make them your own.
  • Spiderbot (Ability) – Deploy a Spiderbot that stuns the nearest target by giving them a face hug.
  • Lockout (Ultra) – Disable the HUD, mini-map, and abilities of all enemies within range.
  • Fabricator (Passive) – Whenever a device is deployed, the Fabricator will create a new one.

The DedSec Faction is all about disrupting enemies by stealing their abilities and stunning them with mechanical arachnids. When used correctly, these skills will leave opponents exposed, making them extremely easy targets. While they're not quite as versatile and XDefiant meta-defining as Factions like Libertad or the Cleaners, DedSec is perfect in objective-based game modes, especially when the enemy is playing as Phantoms.

And that’s our guide on how to unlock DedSec in XDefiant. With the XDefiant roadmap adding even more Factions into the game, beginning with Season 1, it's expected that this same system will be used to unlock future Factions. As such, it's a good idea to get caught up on the current offerings before more are added.
