Ubisoft fans are still waiting for the company to officially release XDefiant, a free-to-play multiplayer shooter that looks like similar games in the genre. Despite that, there’s still a decent amount of excitement surrounding the game, with a developer confirming that it will eventually launch with ranked play.
On Twitter, executive producer Mark Rubin confirmed that the Ubisoft multiplayer shooter will be launching with ranked play right away. Rubin was asked by a fan if the game will eventually launch with this feature and they got a pretty good answer.
The XDefiant executive producer also said that more playtests are underway, so players will soon be able to give this shooter a shot. Hopefully, Rubin and other Ubisoft devs eventually reveal when the free-to-play shooter will be coming out, as the game has been in development for quite a bit.
While the game is still in development, Ubisoft did confirm that this title was indefinitely delayed, meaning no set release window. Although the news initially disappointed some, others are a bit more optimistic, as long as the shooter ends up being quality in the end.
Sadly, this isn’t the only game that Ubisoft continues to delay for odd reasons. Many fans will remember that Skull & Bones hasn’t been released yet, despite being announced years ago and constantly being shown off. We were also supposed to get a Price of Persia: Sands of Time remake but criticism over the game’s visuals has delayed it and there’s still no timetable on its return, despite reports that it’s been completed.
Despite the lack of a proper release window, there is a decent amount of hype surrounding XDefiant. This free-to-play shooter was developed by people who made previous Call of Duty games, which is a big deal for some.
