Getting into a new party-based RPG means meeting a brand-new cast of characters and learning how to use their abilities. Coming up with strategies and figuring out synergies between characters can be a lot of fun, but there are times when you just want to power through to keep things going. That’s why we’ve put together some of the best Zenless Zone Zero team comps to help you get past some of the more challenging encounters in the game.
Since Zenless Zone Zero relies on gacha mechanics, players won’t have every single character on their account unless they’re extremely lucky or decide to spend an unhealthy amount of money on the game. When you don’t have the latest broken unit to throw at bosses, strategizing with the characters you have becomes so much more impactful. It helps to know what you’re working with, so be sure to check out our Zenless Zone Zero tier list and the Zenless Zone Zero banner schedule while you’re here.
Best Zenless Zone Zero Team Comps
Here are the best teams to put together if you want to breeze through content in Zenless Zone Zero:
Ellen, Soukaku, and Lycaon
With Ellen being the first limited S-Rank Agent in Zenless Zone Zero, as part of the ZZZ 1.0 banners, she can be quite the powerhouse on your team. If you were lucky enough to pull Ellen, then you’re definitely going to want to build a team around her.
Ellen is attributed to the Ice element and benefits from being on a team with other Ice units. Ice is already one of the better elements to use in Zenless Zone Zero as it gives you a chance to Freeze enemies and not worry about dodging, but this will also ramp up Ellen’s Flash Freeze charges.
Koleda, Grace, and Ben
Building a team with units from the same faction Zenless Zone Zero can lead to some great results. This Belobog Heavy Industries lineup has the capacity to dish out a ton of damage and that’s especially true if you have the faction’s trademark Bangboo, Safetyboo.
Both Koleda and Grace are great S-Rank DPS units, but Ben being on the team is just as important as he will provide a bunch of defensive utility. Koleda will also gain a team-up attack with Ben when they’re on the same team, boosting their potential damage output.
Grace, Rina, and Anby
By having these three Agents on the same team, you’ll become extremely efficient at applying the Shock status to enemies. Shock has a damage-over-time effect that can rack up the longer a fight goes on, but it is even more effective against Machine-type enemies.
When Machines get hit with this status effect, their attacks may get interrupted, giving you a chance to shut them down before they can get their offence going. If you lack one of the S-Rank Agents for this team, Anton can serve as a decent replacement.
Best Free Zenless Zone Zero Team
The best free-to-play team comp in ZZZ is Anby, Billy, and Nicole.
Playing the game as a free-to-play player may feel like you’re at a disadvantage, but Zenless Zone Zero does provide you with some surprisingly strong free Agents that can get you through content as long as you know how to use them. Of the free units you get from simply playing the game, Anby, Billy, and Nicole have great synergy together.
This lineup is great at handling large groups of enemies that can be finished off with Billy’s AoE skills. Additionally, all three of these Agents are members of the Cunning Hares faction, so you can make great use of the Amillion Bangboo to gain a massive CRIT Damage buff.
How to Make a Good Team Comp in Zenless Zone Zero
When building a team in Zenless Zone Zero, you’re always going to want a Stun-class Agent to apply Daze, a DPS Agent who will shoulder most of the party’s damage output, and a Support or Flex Agent to boost the team’s efficiency in combat.
At the start of a fight, you’re going to want your Stun Agent on the field to try and fill up the enemy’s Daze bar to Stagger them. Swap in your main DPS once the enemy is Staggered to get the most out of your offence since enemies in this state will receive more damage.
The third Agent on your team is usually there to apply buffs, debuffs, or fulfil requirements to activate special passive abilities. These passives normally involve having Agents from the same faction or the same element in a team.
As long as you have these roles filled on your team, you should be able to take on most of the content in Zenless Zone Zero. But you’re free to get creative and come up with some of your very own team compositions too.
