Adrenaline, in his soul, the WWE 2K24 cover star is Cody Rhodes. The WWE megastar who main-evented last year’s WrestleMania and is slated to compete in this weekend’s Royal Rumble will be the face of this year’s game.
However, Rhodes won’t be alone. While the “American Nightmare” will be the cover star of this year’s standard edition, the Deluxe Edition will have WWE’s biggest female superstars on the cover: Bianca Belair and Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley.
The reveal comes from 2K Games, who finally confirmed who would be the cover star of WWE 2K24 after a few days of teasing. Before the announcement, 2K Games had various stars from Raw, SmackDown, and NXT guessing who the cover star would be. It turns out a lot of them were right, as some of them had Cody, Rhea, and Bianca on their guess list.
Based on the way these stars have been treated on television, the decision to make them the cover stars of this year’s game makes a ton of sense. Rhodes has constantly been in main event storylines and has promised to finish his story after losing to Roman Reigns in last year’s Mania main event. Rhea Ripley has also been the star of WWE’s Judgment Day faction, while Bianca Belair has competed in plenty of title matches this year.
WWE 2K24 will focus on 40 years of WrestleMania moments, from Stone Cold taking on Bret Hart, Undertaker retiring Shawn Michaels, and even Cody Rhodes’ loss to Roman Reigns. In addition to this star-studded story mode, we’re also getting the return of Special Referee mode and the Buried Alive match. 2K has also promised “New Career Mode experiences.”
Last year’s WWE 2K23 was considered a success, giving fans more polished gameplay and introducing the War Games match. While it didn’t move the needle in terms of gameplay, the updated roster, John Cena-focused Showcase mode, and MyRise story were seen as highlights.
