While they may not have any massive expansions to dig into quite yet, Elden Ring players are still keeping themselves busy, with the long-awaited Colosseum DLC providing a fresh challenge for many who now consider traditional boss battles to be old news.
That said, sometimes even the acts of butchering an endless supply of bloodthirsty fellow players or emulating runs through the game on guitar or using voice control by streamers like MissMikkaa and Larxa can get a bit stale and drab if you’re using the same character build or rune combination you always end up going for.
If you’re in search of a way to comprehensively overhaul The Lands Between without re-creating locations from it in other games, a new mod might be worth taking a look at.
Do you fancy trying this MMORPG-inspired Elden Ring spin-off mod?
The mod in question is called ‘Eldenlands Remastered’ and is the work of modder tailpower2, whose previous work includes a reshade inspired by the MMO Vindictus.
This time, they’ve released a new version of their popular mod ‘Eldenlands’, which makes an array of changes to the game designed to: “truly fulfil the Elden Ring roleplaying experience, with inspiration from massive multiplayer online games and traditional role playing games.”
This new version of it seemingly builds on the original via two expansions based on interesting Elden Ring community head-canons, called ‘The Threads of Fate’ and ‘The Master Within’, with the first serving as an MMO-style battle grind against Ancient Dragon Lansseax to earn weapons imbued with ‘awakening’, aimed at high-level players who’ve done pretty much everything else in the game.
The second and most recent expansion, ‘The Master Within’, is built around having you acquire a ‘subclass’ or ‘succession’ for your character, both of which are designed to build on the RPG-style starter class you’ll pick at the beginning on the base mod.
In addition to the addition of the expansions, it’s reworkings of elements like these base classes that seemingly serve as the differences between the remastered version of Eldenlands and its predecessor, with the mod’s description offering an in-depth rundown of all of the changes it makes to the base game’s systems and mechanics.
If the mod sounds like it might be up your alley, you can also check out the Discord server dedicated to it, which will give you a chance to stay up to date on future additions and ask any questions you might have that aren’t covered in this handy guide.
