Ubisoft Massive's managing director, David Polfeldt, has announced he'll be leaving the company. Having previously taken a sabbatical, the original plan was to see Polfeldt return to a new managing role, but that's no longer happening.
As confirmed in Nathan Brown’s Hit Points newsletter, the veteran will leave Ubisoft and go “wherever the wind takes me.” Speaking about why he's left, the former managing director had this to say:
“I think my philosophy and my skills work well for a certain kind of group of a certain kind of size,” he said. “I don’t think I’m the right manager for what the studio has become. I’m perfectly at peace with it.”
Ubisoft Massive Loses Star Wars and Avatar Director
For the unaware, Ubisoft Massive - otherwise known as Massive Entertainment - has worked on some of the French publisher's most prominent IP, namely The Division. Right now, its currently working on Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, The Division Heartland, and an unnamed open-world Star Wars game.
It's unclear whether this will have any major impact on development for any of these upcoming projects. Once we hear more, we'll be sure to keep you posted.
