Assassin’s Creed: Shadows has been through its fair share of issues, with the game recently getting its second delay. With all that being said, it’s better to wait for a good game than to play a rushed glitchy mess on time. Delays might be worrisome, but they’re worth it in the end if the final product matches our expectations.
Gameplay-wise, everything fans have seen about Shadows has been promising, from its mix of action and stealth gameplay to the unique protagonists chosen. Combining the two genres that Assassin’s Creed likes to play in could be a brilliant move, we just need to see it in action. There is a lot of anticipation behind this open-world title and the critical reception should be interesting.
So, without further ado, here’s what we know about Assassin’s Creed: Shadows.
Release Date
Due to numerous delays, Assassin’s Creed: Shadows will now be coming out on March 20, 2025. Shadows was originally going to come out in late 2024, but Ubisoft has decided to delay the game to make things better. This should provide a smoother experience, something that has been criticized with previous Ubisoft open-world games.
Based on reports, the main reason for Shadows’ delay was to tune up the game’s parkour system. While the AC games have always had this feature, it seems to have been finetuned for a better flow of movement in this newer title. Here’s hoping the delay was worth it, as the rest of the game looks pretty quality.
Platforms
Unsurprisingly, Assassin’s Creed: Shadows will be coming out on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC. The series has always embraced multi-platform releases, so this shouldn’t surprise anyone. We imagine that the outcry of this series going console exclusive would cause some negative buzz, so keeping it multi-platform is the right call.
Switch 2?
Now that the Switch 2 is a thing, fans everywhere are probably wondering if this new installment will be coming to the brand-new console. While nothing has been confirmed, we wouldn’t be too surprised if Shadows makes its way to the new Nintendo system. At the least, we can expect to see ports of Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla before an eventual “ultimate” edition of this game.
