Now that it’s emerged from early access, Baldur’s Gate 3 has already surpassed a lot of expectations, having attracted a huge amount of players keen to embark on the journey to its highest levels.
Despite some now-resolved issues with its latest hotfix and a bit of unhappiness over the endings on offer for one of its characters, the general verdict on the game has been extremely positive, and its modding scene is already in full swing.
A number of players are already trying to find quirky ways to spice up their playthroughs. While some have been hoarding every item in the game or stacking up every NPC they kill in a neat pile, speedrunners have begun racing to reach its sexual encounters as fast as possible, with their latest trend involving some high-speed voyeurism.
Have you stumbled across this bizarre encounter in Baldur’s Gate 3 yet?
While the Bear% category on Baldur’s Gate 3’s Speedrun.com page unfortunately remains entryless as of writing, speedrunner Mae, who already holds the any% run record for the game and has just lost the sex% title to Nyxus, has now completed the fastest bugbear% run to this point.
What’s a bugbear% run, you ask? Well, the concept was originally inspired by a tweet from streamer Asmongold and involves running as fast as you can to reach an encounter that sees the player given the option to awkwardly walk in on an ogre and a bugbear sharing an intimate moment in a barn.
Youtuber Manflesh was the first person to try it out, recording an eight minute and 39 second run back on August 5 to establish a world record, which Mae has just claimed for themselves via an uber-quick two minute and 14 second jaunt to said barn.
This run, which you can watch in full above, sees them use the same Gale-based enhanced leap exploit from their other runs to bounce their character, a dragonborn fittingly named Bugbear Enjoyer, off the Nautiloid and to the scene of the peculiar attempt at procreation in impressively rapid fashion.
“When a bugbear and an ogre start going at it across the map, Bugbear Enjoyer is there to cheer them on as quickly as possible in one of the most legendary Baldur's Gate 3 speedruns you'll ever see,” Mae declared in their video’s description, and, to be fair, they’re not wrong.
They also explained that the trick to accomplishing one of the strats they use in the run, which sees them manage to jump through one of the Nautiloid’s walls into a different chamber is just “a LOT of spam.” “I'm basically mashing my jump key for dear life while my interact key is bound to my scroll wheel,” they explained.
