With the official release of Black Ops 6, players have a fresh arsenal of weapons to explore, along with the return of some fan-favorite classics. A noteworthy gun here is the AMES 85, the third Assault Rifle players unlock in the game. Currently, AMES 85 is arguably one of the best—if not the best Assault Rifles in Black Ops 6.
That being said, you cannot truly unlock a gun’s potential if you don’t have the proper build enabled. In that case, here’s a build for AMES 85 to make you unstoppable.
The Best AMES 85 Loadout in Call of Duty Black Ops 6
Before diving into the build for AMES 85, you must equip the Gunfighter Wildcard, as it’ll allow you to gain more than five attachments for your Primary Weapon. That being said, here’s the load-out:
- Optic: Kepler Microflex
- Muzzle: Compensator
- Barrel: Reinforced Barrel
- Underbarrel: Vertical Foregrip
- Magazine: Extended Mag 1
- Rear Grip: Commando Grip
- Stock: Balanced Stock
- Fire Mods: Recoil Springs

Details of the AMES 85 Build
I'll start with the Kepler Microflex, an excellent optic that increases line of sight and accuracy. Nostalgia-wise, it resembles the classic reflex sight from the previous titles.
To increase the Accuracy (in other words, the recoil) of the weapon, we’ve got the Compensator as our second attachment. With the Compensator equipped, you can expect a 30% increase for both the Recoil Gun Kick and the Vertical Recoil Control.
The Reinforced Barrel specializes in increasing the weapon’s Bullet Velocity. Since AMES 85 is slightly heavy because it is an Assault Rifle, this attachment will undoubtedly make an impact.
We'll equip the vertical foregrip for greater handling and recoil control. As the name suggests, the attachment mainly encourages Vertical Recoil Control, with a slight improvement in Horizontal Recoil.
Although the Extended Mag 1 increases the capacity of your ammo, it comes at the cost of a reduced amount of Reload Quickness and Empty Reload Quickness.
If you’re an AR player who typically likes to rush enemy sites, the Commando Grip is your go-to. This attachment focuses explicitly on the Mobility department for the AMES 85 Rifle. In particular, the Aim Down Sight Speed and the Sprint-to-Fire Speed. The last two attachments, the Heavy Stock and the Recoil Sprints focus on the weapon’s Accuracy.

With almost all the attachment slots filled for the AMES 85 Assault Rifle, let us now see if it positively impacts the weapon and your gameplay overall. Here’s a brief run-down of the enhanced weapon attributes:
