While a lot of Cyberpunk 2077 players are already imagining how sweet life will be when the Phantom Liberty Expansion arrives and they can ditch their old flame, Keanu Reeves, for a fresh celebrity companion in Idris Elba, some are still hanging out in Night City while they wait.
The average day experienced by these veteran mercenaries can move at a pretty breakneck pace. A day in the life generally consists of spending a lot of time shooting or quickhacking their way through cybernetically-enhanced foes to complete gigs. Or to simply try and survive life on the dangerous streets of CD Projekt Red’s metropolis.
However, if you’re the kind of player who prefers spending their time peacefully exploring Night City’s nooks and crannies to find hidden secrets to tell your closest friends about, a new mod might be worth adding to your load order.
Have you missed this reference to an iconic sci-fi movie during your playthroughs of Cyberpunk 2077?
The mod in question is called ‘Immersion extension - Blade Runner tribute scene’ and is seemingly the work of modder anygoodname. Their previous projects have restored some missing audio to one of the game’s side quests and helped keep the populace of Night City calm when computers are turned on.
But this time, they’ve decided to add to the rooftop easter egg that serves as one of the game’s loving references to the sci-fi classic Blade Runner. This easter egg can easily be missed during playthroughs if you’re not the kind of player who has probed every single corner of CD Projekt Red’s Metropolis.
Anygoodname has kept the description deliberately vague in terms of what they’ve done to the scene, which features an NPC resembling replicant Roy Batty holding a bird in an homage to the famous ‘Tears in rain’ monologue. The modder doesn't want the player to experience spoilers ahead of the altered scene in-game.
How to activate cut-scene easter egg and install the mod
So, you’ll have to head to the roof of the Advocet Hotel in Heywood’s Vista del Rey district in order to find out what happens. Hopefully, you won’t have to live Rick Deckard’s nightmare of battling the Batty NPC while it howls at you like a wolf and slams its head through walls.
First, though, you’ll have to grab Awpsoleet’s ‘Cyber Engine Tweaks’ in order to get things working as they should.
