It looks like Xbox finally has their answer to Marvel’s Spider-Man, now that Blade from Arkane and Bethesda was announced. While most fans are assuming that it will be an Xbox exclusive, Disney is playing coy with that fact, not confirming this suspicion as fact, at least not yet.
Axios’ Stephen Totilo spoke with Sean Shoptaw, the head of Disney’s gaming division, and quickly asked about Blade being an Xbox exclusive. Oddly enough, Shoptaw didn’t comment on it, telling Totilo that’s a question for Bethesda and not Disney, which is interesting.
Some fans are hoping this means the Marvel game will get released on other platforms, but that doesn’t seem likely. Bethesda and Arkane haven’t made a game for PlayStation since Deathloop, which will likely be their last title for Sony’s current-gen platform.
Xbox needs a killer exclusive, especially since Starfield is slowly losing interest from fans, so a hot Marvel property like Blade would help. The fact that Arkane is involved should be exciting since it means they can get that Redfall stink off and bite into something much juicier.
Now, this isn’t the only major Disney property that’s going to be exclusive to Xbox. A brand-new Indiana Jones for Xbox Series was announced not too long ago, with many hoping this will be something special. Hopefully, this is more Raiders of the Lost Ark and less Crystal Skull, if we’re using our Indy analogy correctly.
PlayStation fans will have to get used to the fact that they won’t be able to play Blade on their console unless Bethesda shocks the world. Until that happens, it’s safe to assume that the upcoming Arkane game will remain exclusive to Xbox and PC. At the least, PlayStation fans still have Spider-Man and Wolverine to look forward to.
