When they’re not chilling out in a comfy settlement or setting off car alarms, Fallout 4’s Sole Survivor can often be found fighting their way through the many dangerous locales of The Commonwealth.

Given the many perils that come with completing quests in a post-apocalyptic environment that’s often highly irradiated or filled with unfriendly raiders, it’s no surprise that Vault 111’s finest frozen treat usually evolves into a bit of a wasteland superhero.

If your vault dweller fancies leaving their power armour at home for once, in order to ride to their next shootout or killing spree on the back of an incredibly deadly sidekick, a new mod might be worth adding to your load order.

Feel like hopping on the back of a deadly pet to travel across Fallout 4’s wasteland?

The mod in question is called ‘Rideable Deathclaw named Shreddy’ and is the latest work of modder ghostfc3s, who also goes by the handle ‘Varangian Studio’. Some of their previous projects have helped make The Commonwealth’s gunfights much more dangerous and ensured that the Sole Survivor will have to undergo training in order to don some power armour.

This time, they’ve decided to give wasteland wanderers the most deadly mount a post-apocalyptic adventurer could own, in the form of a rideable Deathclaw endearingly named Shreddy.

Found destroying some raiders to the north of Abernathy Farm, this post-apocalyptic pet can be mounted like a horse, allowing you to saddle up and charge into combat in a manner that’ll definitely take whom or whatever you’ve chosen to battle with by surprise.

While you won’t be able to use any of your own weapons while perched on the overgrown lizard’s back, you will seemingly be able to command Shreddy to lash out in different directions with their massive claws, which should easily carve their way to victory in melee encounters.

Or, if you prefer, you could dismount just prior to engaging and fight alongside Shreddy as you would a regular follower, providing some helpful ranged support that’ll make the pair of you a pretty terrifying tandem assault team.

Either way, before you take on any foes, you’ll probably want to outfit your new pet with some protection from Hopper31’s ‘Deathclaw Armory’ and should definitely make sure you’re running the Fallout 4 Script Extender.

Regardless of whether you’re now trying to feed Shreddy a few raider limbs as a post-battle treat, make sure to follow us for more updates on interesting mods like this one for Skyrim and Fallout New Vegas. You can also check out our mods of the month for April 2023.
