The wait for GTA VI continues to torment a lot of gamers, so many were hoping a new trailer would appear in this weekend’s Super Bowl. Outside of a Thunderbolts trailer and an awesome performance from Kendrick Lamar, fans did not see any updates about Rockstar’s game. Players need to be patient about this, given how Rockstar operates.
Various posts on the game’s subreddit left fans hoping to see a new glimpse of the highly-anticipated title during this massive football show. Some players hoped it would get a surprise trailer, while others immediately dismissed the idea given how expensive that is. Thanks to GTA Online, Rockstar isn’t hurting for money, but they didn’t release a new trailer during the Super Bowl.
Fans weren’t surprised when a new GTA VI trailer didn’t come out, though they were still sad about it. Rockstar now takes several years to release a new game, longer than some would like, but seeing nothing else come from the first trailer last year is mind-boggling.
Since the game was announced, rumors have spread like crazy. A gaming store accidentally posted a release date that was fake, so Rockstar confirmed its Fall release window. There was also a story where an ex-Rockstar Games developer claimed that it wouldn’t be able to hit 60 FPS at launch, which has disappointed some PS5 and Xbox Series owners.
In the end, what matters is that GTA VI releases this year and ends up being a quality game at launch. Rockstar notoriously messed up the remasters of GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas, taking them many years to fix. The company did make it up to fans by releasing Red Dead Redemption in decent condition, and it even came to Switch, so lessons were clearly learned.
While the Super Bowl didn't show the trailer everyone was hoping for, good things come to those who wait.
