While many GTA players are just trying to enjoy their remaining time in Los Santos by filling up their 50-car garages with exotic automobiles or working their way through Last Dose missions, some are already looking forward to GTA 6.
After all, aren’t you curious to see how Rockstar’s next game might incorporate mechanics and characters from other titles, re-create Miami’s real-world nightlife or manage to feel more ambitious than Starfield?
Though all of this likely won’t be known until the game finally arrives, some prospective players are already outlining their desires for the long-term DLC and support plans that’ll accompany it, with an increased emphasis on single-player fun certainly being on one player’s wishlist.
Do you think GTA Online’s current state suggests GTA 6 could do with a bigger post-release focus on story mode?
Their solo adventure-themed speculation forms the subject of a recent thread on the GTA 6 subreddit, which was kicked off by a post from the player in question, user kamas333, who suggested: “Given Rockstar's greater focus on the single-player experience (for solo grinders) in later updates to GTA Online, I wonder if there's a chance to provide ongoing support and development of GTA VI’s (story mode) for gamers like me.”
They went on to specify the elements of GTA Online that have turned them off of it and cited Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed series as one they believe proves that there’s plenty of money to be made from catering to those who enjoy playing solo without impacting the experience.
User Pawikowski thought the sentiment behind kamas333’s idea was commendable, musing: “Online games get all the live updates: not only bug fixes and occasionally new features, but also new meaty content: story missions, new maps, (etcetera).”
As did user AlexLiberty21, who suggested that the more story-focused additions would “fit better” in story mode, while GTA 6’s online component could focus more heavily on competitive PvP and PvE game modes like races and deathmatches.”
On the other hand, user dlnkrg disagreed with kamas333’s Assassin’s Creed example, saying: “Ubisoft has been on my no buy list since Far Cry 5, because it had in-game currency that you could get by buying it with actual cash. Do whatever you want in an all online multiplayer game, but adding (those kinds of) in-game purchases to a single-player game is so disgusting to me.”
