While some GTA players are already looking forward to GTA 6, others are still trying to make the most of their remaining time in Los Santos.
After all, if you don’t enjoy trying to predict what the next game’s map will look like, lack any hot takes regarding what it should include, and have given up on planning out your first playthrough, why not just try to appreciate the final stretch of GTA Online?
While some players have been doing so by hosting demolition derbies, nailing sick Scramjet stunts, or trying to remember who their parents are, others are discussing the idea of being able to pick up fellow criminals in their taxis.
Would you fancy giving a lift to a fellow criminal for some quick cash?
Their hackney carriage hopes form the subject of a recent thread on the GTA Online subreddit, which began with a post from user SnowySquid6, who kicked things off by asking: “If you call for a taxi while playing in a public lobby, and another player is doing Taxi missions, can they be assigned to collect you? If not, would you like this to be possible in the future?”
Some of their fellow players were up for conveying the odd non-NPC fares, with user DWH79 saying: “I think that would be a fun feature. It would spice things up for what can be a pretty monotonous task. I'd also like to see some more interaction from fares--like them asking for a different destination mid-ride or something. Maybe some special task for an extra tip?”
However, many suggested that the temperament of Los Santos’ human residents might make such a feature a recipe for disaster, with user SquashPrestigious351 bluntly declaring: “People would end up calling for a cab and just shooting you.” and Competitive_Juice902 admitting: “If I want to call a taxi these days it's because I want to steal it.”
On the other hand, users dopdop8 and Skull7838 were concerned for the wellbeing of the passengers, with the former musing: “(It’s) all fun and games until they drive you off a cliff or into the ocean.” and the latter adding: “I've seen how gta players drive..... I'll take the NPC any day of the week.”
Meanwhile, user Ilmalaiva suggested an alternative means of making taxi missions more interesting, saying: “The idea I always had was (to) hire comedians for bit roles as taxi customers. Like, sure, I personally drive it while listening to a podcast on headphones, but if the customers told a funny story while I take them to the oil field, that would be cool.”
