For many GTA fans, the online aspect introduced in GTA 5 was their favorite part of the package. GTA Online 2 is a hard requirement for gamers waiting for GTA 6 to bring a sequel. Since its release in 2013, GTA Online has been integral to a wonderful GTA 5 experience.

Rockstar has recently joined this year's Whammageddon with a holiday update for GTA Online. New law enforcement vehicles, double rewards, and returning holiday modes are again for GTA Online players to enjoy.

While the holiday update includes lots of festive activities, this meant that the update could very well be the "Last Christmas" that many GTA fans may experience in GTA Online.

With over a decade of events in GTA Online, many fans have spent their entire younger gamer lives roaming the streets of Los Santos.

From the Vespucci Beach Party in 2013 to the ever-popular The Heist Challenges, GTA Online is such a bank of memories to many fans that transitioning to GTA Online 2 from GTA 6 could be extremely difficult or comfortably freeing.

GTA Online has always had the Festive Suprise event since 2014, and the holidays were never the same. Players will go around and try to have some casual snowball fights with each other until someone gets hit twice and unpacks a missile launcher, ending in a classic GTA Online brawl.

Now that GTA 6 is just on the horizon, this may very well be the last Christmas event in GTA Online. Fans could celebrate next year in GTA Online 2. If there aren't any delays, we will surely see a new festive surprise in GTA Online 2 for Christmas 2025. But will we see GTA Online 2 on launch day?

It isn't impossible to have GTA Online 2 on GTA 6 release date; after the success of GTA Online, it is unlikely that Rockstar Games will want to release GTA 6 without an online feature.

Some players have already discussed how they want to transition from GTA Online to GTA Online 2, with many of them wishing to have a fresh start in the new iteration of GTA Online because they "have been playing this shit for 12 years."

While this is the ideal way, considering how Rockstar has made over $8.9 billion from the franchise since GTA V, Rockstar Games might have a few options on how to make players transition to GTA Online 2 without losing too much of what they have worked hard for in the last 12 years.

GTA Online has been an extremely important part of the franchise, and Rockstar is unlikely to release the latest title without an online counterpart. This brings us back to spending the Christmas season next year in GTA Online 2.

GTA Online has been awesome; to some, it has become a very important part of their gaming journey. To save them from tears, Rockstar is surely giving something special to GTA fans for next year's holidays.

Until then, enjoying a warm cup of cocoa and cookies while blasting through the snow-covered streets of Los Santos may be the perfect way to spend Christmas.
