If someone had told us that insectoid aliens could be cute, we wouldn't have believed you. But that's before we met Mantis, a capable healer and essential member of the Guardians of the Galaxy. In our Marvel Rivals Mantis guide, we'll show you why the empathetic alien is the one you want to play by showing off her abilities, skills, and costumes.

Mantis prides herself on reaching out and understanding others, which is why her abilities as a healer are so revered. She's great for newcomers to Marvel Rivals, as her abilities aren't too complicated to understand, and she's got great buffs that'll help out her team.

Marvel Rivals Mantis Abilities

Mantis abilities in Marvel Rivals are:

  • Life Energy Blast (Left Click) - Mantis fires an energy thorn that deals damage. You regain a Life Orb after a critical hit.
  • Healing Flower (Right Click) - Mantis consumes Life Orbs to grant allies healing over time.
  • Soul Resurgence (Q) - Mantis releases energy around her while moving, providing a boost to movement and healing over time for surrounding allies.
  • Spore Slumber (L SHIFT) - Mantis throws a spore to Sedate the nearest enemy, making them sleep.
  • Allied Inspiration (E) - Mantis consumes a Life Orb to give allies a boost to damage.
  • Natural Anger (F) - Mantis consumes a Life Orb to give herself a damage boost.
  • Nature's Favour (Passive) - Mantis receives a boost in movement when not injured, and healing over time when consuming Life Orbs.
  • Life Orbs - 5
  • Health - 250
  • Class - Strategist (Support)

With Mantis being a Strategist, aka your support, her kit is essential for keeping allies in the battle for as long as she can. However, Mantis does have the capability to damage enemies if she has no other choice. But her damage output will never be on the same level as your average DPS. Most of the time, you'll be juggling dealing damage and healing.

How to Play Mantis in Marvel Rivals

Mantis has a one-star difficulty rating and, on the surface, we can see why that would garner the belief that she's exceedingly easy to play. It's true that when it comes to healing and general understanding of her abilities, Mantis is easy to get to grips with.

However, there's much more to her abilities than meets the eye. For one thing, she's exceedingly capable of buffing her allies' damage and movement speed to keep them in the battle for longer. Like Lucio in Overwatch, this speed boost can be great for offensive plays if timed correctly. While Luna Snow, another strategist, is able to keep allies fully stocked too, Mantis is able to do so for longer thanks to her Life Orbs.

Mantis also has the upper hand by allowing her team to heal up over time and, while not a ridiculous amount of health, it does make a difference as it allows allies to not have to rush back for health kits during a battle.

That said, like most strategists, Mantis does not have the defensive capabilities to keep herself safe. What's worse is that she has zero ways to get out of the way if she's ganged up on, so it is exceedingly important that when playing her you keep next to heroes that are able to keep you from dying. We suggest tankier heroes, like Groot or Magneto.

Marvel Rivals Mantis Costumes and Skins

Mantis currently has two costumes available in Marvel Rivals. More are likely to be released after the game’s official launch, but here’s what the leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy has so far:

  • Classic Mantis
  • Galactic Protocol: Mantis Habit

Mantis' Galactic Protocol skin is unique to Marvel Rivals, but that doesn't stop it from being one of the most eye-catching skins in the game so far. It really leans into the insectoid-like nature of Mantis, with green antennae and bug-like eyes

This is what you can expect from Mantis in Marvel Rivals, from her abilities and how to play her, to all the costumes and skins you can get for her. For more help with Marvel Rivals, you can check our Iron Man, Storm and Magik guides.
