How to craft a bed in Palworld
You might've been going along with your simple base-building activities and run into a problem when you get the mission to craft a bed. The game simply won't let you. This isn't an error, and it makes perfect sense once we think about it. Palworld will not let you build a bed for yourself outdoors.
This means you first need to build some sort of room or house to place your bed inside. For this, you need to unlock both the Shoddy Bed and the Wooden Structure Set from the Technology menu.
Once unlocked, you first need to open the build menu and put down some Wooden Foundation on the floor. Next, you have to place some walls around the Wooden Foundation for support.
Lastly, you have to place a roof to build your bed under. You can't build a bed in Palworld unless you have a roof over your head. This serves the purpose of teaching you basic base building as well as keeping you safe from danger when time passes. If you remove the roof, you won't be able to use the bed.
Building a bed requires 20 Wood, 5 fiber and 1 Wool.
You can also build beds for your Pals at the base. This is a necessity as without a bed, your Pals will become stressed, depressed, and possibly die. You can unlock the Straw Pal Bed next to the Shoddy Bed and build it anywhere. You don't need a roof for this one. Make sure the number of beds on your base is never less than the number of assigned Pals.
How do beds work in Palworld?
When you sleep in your bed after a long time or at night time it will trigger a quick cutscene that will skip you ahead several hours into the morning. This doesn't change much for you, but it's worth doing at night when you want to skip hours of low visibility. It's also useful because your Pals sleep at night, and you might prefer being active during the same hours as them for maximum productivity.
As for Pal Beds, they're a necessity. Palworld is quite brutal when it comes to the realism with your Pals. They can get stressed or angry if they don't get their rest in their beds. This can lead to injuries or a refusal to work.
In extreme cases, they can develop disorders and develop tendencies that result in their death from overworking. So make sure to keep enough beds for your Pals to get a good night's rest.
