Now that Switch 2 is the new gaming hotness, some fans figured that Nintendo would let their current system wither and die. However, the company still has a few big games up its sleeve, confirming that Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond are still coming this year. It’s good to know fans who can’t upgrade immediately have more quality titles on the way.

During the company’s most recent financial results, it was revealed that these two major titles would still be coming to Switch. Many always theorized that these two games would be cross-gen with the Switch 2, which seems pretty likely. We actually expect more of these cross-gen titles before Nintendo fully focuses on the new system.

Fans were shocked to see that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond would still be coming to the Switch, considering the delays this first-person shooter has faced. Some fans even thought that the game was running on Switch 2 hardware, but they clearly didn’t play the fantastic remaster of Metroid Prime. Nonetheless, it’s nice to know that the Switch will go out with some quality Metroid games.

As for Pokémon Legends: Z-A, this is another game that fans didn’t expect to see for the first Nintendo Switch. Considering how much fans enjoyed Legends: Arceus, it does make sense for Game Freak to work on Z-A. It’s odd seeing a major Pokémon game on the system’s last relevant year, though Nintendo did also do this with the DS and 3DS.

Both games will likely receive updates on the Switch 2 for better performance, though we hope they aren’t the only games that get them. Obviously, many of us would like to see Pokémon Scarlet and Violet get major updates, even if they’re technically playable on current Switch hardware. Batman: Arkham Knight and Mortal Kombat 1 are also in need of major patches.

That’s what we know about Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond coming to Switch. For more Switch 2 news, check out how Nintendo plans on beating scalpers.
