Knowing what to do to unlock the Engineer archetype is the easier part. The more difficult aspect of this venture is to actually acquire the Alien Device. Let’s see how you can get to it.
How to find the Alien Device
The Alien Device to unlock the Engineer archetype is located in the second zone of N’Erud. Due to the procedural generation of the zones, for you, it could either be the Eon Vault or the Timeless Horizon. In any case, you will find the device at the edge of Titan's Reach in the zone, nearby the corpse of a technician. You can also obtain the uniform of the technician there.
Since the area is contaminated with fog, your vision will be shrouded, making it harder to find the item. Simply stick to the edge of the map, and be sure to keep an eye out for a shining item in the mist. Moreover, since the fog causes Blight, you can’t stay in the affected area for too long. However, you can use the Purified Salve to increase your Blight Resistance, making traversal a bit easier.
