Skyrim modder makes carriage drivers as chatty as real-world taxi drivers

Modders have put a lot of effort into making sure Skyrim has continually evolved and expanded in the eleven years since it was first released into the world.

A lot of these efforts have focused on making the game more immersive, making additions ranging from dynamically-learning NPCs to destination weddings, as well as adding details to the province and even giving you the chance to wield fairly historically-accurate weapons.

Now, one modder has decided to make travelling from city to city by carriage, as many players do near the start of a playthrough, more immersive than ever, by making Skyrim’s carriage drivers endlessly chunter on about the weather.

Have you ever thought Skyrim’s coach drivers should be a bit more verbose?

The mod in question is called ‘Carriages and Stables Dialogue Bundle’, and is the work of modder JaySerpa. A lot of their previous work has also been focused on realism, helping to flesh out Skyrim’s civil war encounters, as well as giving its animals swimming lessons.

This time, they’ve decided to add some extra dialogue to the game’s carriage drivers, giving them the opportunity to comment on things like the current in-game weather and the city they’re waiting outside of, as well as, god forbid, giving them a chance of singing to themselves, as you can see in the video below.

While these minor outbursts will occur at random whenever you walk by one of them, if you initiate a proper conversation before entering the city they’re stationed at for the first time, the mod also gives them the ability to offer you a bit of an introduction to it.

It also includes one other feature that isn’t specifically related to carriage drivers, which will be useful if you’ve bought the creation club’s horse armour, as it replaces the silent exchanges you’ll usually have when buying their armour with generic voiced dialogue that’ll fit whatever question you’re asking or demand you’re making.

Don’t worry if you haven’t invested in this fine bit of creation club content though, as the mod doesn’t require it to work.
