Modders have put a lot of effort into making sure Skyrim has continually evolved and expanded in the eleven years since it was first released into the world.

A lot of these efforts have focused on making the game’s combat a lot more engaging, with new weapons, spells and animations helping to spice things up, especially when paired with unfamiliar enemies.

However, many of the most popular Skyrim mods are those that bring fresh quests and locations to the game, with the latest of these already being in the process of taking the Nexus by storm.

Think your Skyrim experience needs a few more Mass Effect-style buddies?

The mod in question is called ‘Warden of the Coast’, and is the work of modder TheBawb. A lot of their previous work has centred around making Skyrim feel a lot more like The Lord of the Rings, having given you the chance to explore The Shire and even start your own fellowship.

This time, they’ve decided to create a DLC-sized quest mod which combines elements of Mass Effect, Dragon Age and Oblivion to create a player-choice-driven story that should keep you entertained for a good while.

As you can see in the video above, Mehrunes Dagon has decided to launch another Daedric invasion of Tamriel, with Dremora pouring forth from Oblivion gates popping up all over the two new world spaces added to the game by the mod.

Though, instead of teaming up with Martin Septim to stop them, this time you’ll have a gang of nine Bioware-style companions at your side, with most of these individuals having their own loyalty and romance questlines to complete as you battle Dagon’s minions.

Ranging from hardened warriors to skilled mages, this crew look to be what really brings the mod to life, with a “dynamic companion regard system” leading their opinion of you to change based on your actions and the ability to level them up or revive them during combat ensuring that you can’t just be selfish as you plough your way through horned foes.

So, if you want to make sure you get your preferred ending out of the five available at the conclusion of the mod’s story, you might want to go on a few exploratory trips with these fully-voiced accomplices in order to get to know them a bit better.

Who knows, you might end up finding that one of them is the ideal marriage candidate, a feature TheBawb is currently planning to add in a future update to the mod.
