If you’re a big Star Wars fan, odds are you’ve spent the past week or so delving into the freshly released entry in Respawn Entertainment’s Star Wars Jedi series.

Assuming you’ve been lucky enough to have avoided having your playing sessions disrupted too badly by the array of performance-related issues that plagued the launch version of the game, odds are you’ll have quickly become engrossed in the adventures of Cal Kestis.

Regardless of how invested you are in the poncho-loving Jedi’s romance with Merrin or what you’d want to see from a potential next chapter in his story, you can’t deny that he’s a pretty interesting character and, as Bode Akuna’s voice actor has recently revealed, this is no accident.

Have you become completely invested in the tribulations of Jedi Survivor’s protagonist?

Warning: Spoilers for the main story of Star Wars Jedi Survivor may lie ahead.

Responding to a post in the subreddit r/fallenorder, which saw user Accomplished_Neat_61 suggest: “Cal (Kestis) might be the most interesting character in current (Star Wars) canon that’s being developed right now,” an account seemingly belonging to Noshir Dalal, who portrays Bode Akuna in the game, praised other members of the team for their work on Kestis.

“Cameron (Monaghan) has put so much nuance into Cal, (while Narrative Director) Aaron (Contreras) and the rest of the writing team really did a wonderful job (of) putting Cal in positions that force him to decide what sort of Jedi he’s going to be," said Dalal, adding: “He’s trying desperately to find a code that he can live with (and) I think that journey, that seeking, is something we can all relate to.”

He also painted a bit of a picture of what it’s been like working with Monaghan specifically, praising Kestis’ actor by saying: “He fights hard when he needs to, to stand up for Cal in the best ways, and he’s never being a diva about it, he’s making sure he does Cal Kestis justice. And the results speak for (themselves). He’s a goddamn legend.”

A number of other users in the thread responded to this comment complimenting Dalal on his performance in the game, with Emufarmer87 declaring: “It’s so refreshing to see the cast engaging with the community, you can tell just how much love and heart each of you put into this game.”
