How to add workbench to ship in Starfield

As you progress through Starfield, you'll be learning how to fight, travel, explore, and craft across various locations. Since you need your tools to be easily accessible, consider reading our guide on how to add a workbench to your ship in Starfield.

Workbenches are quite convenient to have whenever you plan to settle down for a while in certain locations in the game. However, it'll be much easier if you can bring your workbench as you fly off into space.

How to add workbench to ship in Starfield

To add a workbench to your ship in Starfield, you need to craft the Workshop Hab from the ship customisation menu.

Having a workbench in Starfield allows you to craft strong weapons and decent armour to protect you better as you venture into the unknown. Moreover. you can also create different food and healing items to replenish your health and strength regularly. With that in mind, it's best to add a workbench to your ship, especially if you travel from planet to planet a lot.

To add a workbench to your ship, you must first head to a Ship Services Technician, as they allow you to modify your ship. From there, you can then select "Ship Builder" to enter the ship-building mode. You can then move your cursor away, which prompts an "Add" option to open a new menu.

In this new menu, you'll see the ship parts you can place or replace on your ship. You'll then find the "habs" tab at the top menu. These mean that they are habitats that offer various functions and effects to enhance your ship in whatever way you please. Additionally, the habs improve the living quarters of your ship, and increase the number of crew and passengers you can hold. Here's a list of some of the hab modules and possible ship additions you may just get:

  • All-in-one Hab - Navigation Console, Bed, Galley, Passenger Slots
  • Armory Hab - Weapon Storage and Display
  • Battle Station - Navigation Console, Crew Stations
  • Brig - Bed, Storage
  • Captain's Quarters Cargo Hall - Bed, Galley, Storage
  • Companionway - Storage
  • Computer Core - Storage, Crew Stations
  • Control Station - Crew Stations, Galley, Storage
  • Engineering Infirmary Hab - Storage
  • Infirmary Hub - Pharmaceutical Lab, Research Lab
  • Living Quarters - Bed
  • Mess Hall - Cooking Station, Galley
  • Science Hab - Pharmaceutical Lab, Research Lab, Galley
  • Storeroom - None
  • Workshop Hab - Weapon Workbench, Spacesuit Workbench, Industrial Workbench.

As such, you'll want to construct the Workshop Hab, containing all the workbenches you'll need to craft on the go, as you hop between planets in Starfield.

Keep in mind to save your progress every now and then when making hab purchases. This is to avoid losing crucial data you've spent grinding on.
