Most of the hardcore Bethesda RPG fans who’ve invested thousands of hours into Skyrim and Fallout 4 can't wait for the release of Starfield.

Some have been passing the time until September by posting a new comment on one of its trailers every single day as part of a countdown to release, or watching one of Fallout London’s modders break down its animations.

Meanwhile, others have been re-watching what we've seen of the game so far, searching for subtle details they might have originally missed. Now, however, one claims to have used similar research to predict how the rest of the game’s marketing campaign will play out.

What do you think of the batch of new Starfield videos Bethesda just dropped?

Following a period of radio silence in the aftermath of June’s Starfield Direct, Bethesda has just put out a series of new videos providing even more information on what three of its cities, New Atlantis, Akila City, and Neon.

Seemingly designed to give prospective players a little more of an idea of the kinds of characters they might meet in these places, the trio of clips share an anime-inspired art style and a short run time of just under three minutes.

This is where things get weird.

Shortly before the videos were first put out into the world, Reddit user asd8dhd published a post to the Starfield subreddit which saw them boldly predict that today (July 25) would see the arrival of “the first of exactly six official Starfield related videos.”

The fan, who has recently shared an incredibly detailed speculative analysis of everything that’s been shown of the game’s skill system to this point, claimed that they were basing this prediction on some number sequences shown in a shot of ship executing a grav jump.

In their original post, they asserted that the promotional videos would drop at 6 PM GMT on each Tuesday between now and the game’s release on September 6. This would serve as a countdown to the game, which would begin on July 25 and culminate in a final video on September 5.

While they were wrong about the number of videos that would drop today and the time they’d release, the fact they even managed to be close has thoroughly impressed their fellow fans.

Since the videos dropped, asd8dhd has updated their prediction, saying: “I think the countdown part of the videos will actually start next week, that means it will lead right up to 3PM GMT the day before [exactly 9 hours before] the full release.”

I guess we’ll have to see if they end up being right, or if they’ve just taken Fallout 4’s ‘Idiot Savant’ perk.
