Update: According to ViewSonic, the XG272G-2K was released worldwide in Q3, 2022. However, we can't find the monitor available to buy right now, and news surrounding it has seemingly gone quiet. We'll update this guide if that changes, so sit tight for now and bookmark this page for future information.

The ViewSonic Elite XG272G-2K could become the esports gamer's go-to monitor, and if you're anything like us you'll be itching to know when the release date is.

ViewSonic recently announced a trio of dynamite entries into the Elite Series. The 32", 4K ELITE XG321UG, the ELITE XG341C-2K which claims the title as the world's fastest 34" curved monitor, and of course the 1440p/ 300hz powerhouse the XG272G-2K.

As with many of the recent monitors announced, we've got some of the picture, but not all of it just yet.

That being said we do have some information on what to expect when it hits shelves. Read on for everything we know so far, and why we're excited about its arrival.

ViewSonic Elite XG272G-2K Release Date Speculation

According to the ViewSonic website, the monitor will be heading our way for Q3.

Whether it'll be early or late Q3 is still yet to be seen, but it's not too far away if you're planning on waiting it out, that is, if you can resist the charms of the LG 48GQ900 OLED monitor said to be heading our way too.

But how much will it set you back when it does release?

ViewSonic Elite XG272G-2K Price Speculation

It's yet another mystery, unfortunately, but we'd say prepare for a weighty price tag upon release.

We'd estimate this may come in at over $1000 easily, which is in line with some of the smaller HDMI 2.1 monitors available today, such as the ever-popular Asus TUF Gaming VG28UQL1A.

The key selling point of this, however, is more to do with its incredibly high refresh rate and QHD resolution which marks a new wave of 300hz+/1440p monitors set to hit the scene in recent years...

STAGE RIGHT: Our only glimpse at the monitor so far...

ViewSonic announced a trio of monitors for their Elite series and have provided a top-line view of some of the specs.

As mentioned, this monitor is 27", 1440p, with a refresh rate of 300hz.

The big thing here is finding a 'best of both worlds' situation, where you can enjoy high resolution and detail without trading off framerates or fluid gameplay.

It's a narrative that Nvidia is pushing at the moment, as it looks like they want to have 1440p/ 360hz as the new esports standard, moving away from 1080p resolution.

Speaking on the resolution, this monitor utilizes IGZO display technology which boasts higher pixel density and consistent colours.

Add that to its VESA DisplayHDR 1000 rating and 95% DCI-P3 colour gamut, and you can expect something that's going to be super bright with vivid colours and deep blacks.

For esports that should work well when identifying competitors in darker settings and for those looking for a more immersive experience, it should really bring those virtual worlds to life.

ViewSonic Elite XG272G-2K Features

As is the case with many of the new wave of 1440p/ 360hz monitors, the ViewSonic Elite XG272G-2K packs Nvidia G-Sync Ultimate and their Reflex Analyzer.

The Reflex Analyzer is a tool that can be used to identify where you could be 'leaking' when it comes to latency. This will be a valuable addition to an esports player's arsenal.

On the design front, we don't have a whole lot to go by, but it's certainly one of the more minimal options out there.

If ViewSonic does anything well, it's that they make monitors that wouldn't look out of place in an office setup, making this doubly as appealing for those working from home.

What We Think

Set for Q3, we've still got a while before this hits the scene, but we're expecting it to land with a splash.

We don't have the full details yet, so we're intrigued to see how it matches up against the other 1440p/ 300hz+ monitors from MSI, AOC, and ASUS when the time comes.

Watch this space, as we'll be back to update you as soon as we hear more.
