How To Connect PSVR To A PC: Our Step-By-Step Guide

If you'd like to know how to connect PSVR to a PC, then we've got you covered right here.

The process for connecting the device up is perhaps a little more complicated given the PSVR isn't natively supported by powerful gaming PCs, unlike other PCVR headsets such as the Valve Index or HTC Vive Pro 2.

Once you can get it working though, you'll be able to play a range of the best VR games and have an awful lot of fun in the process.

So, here's how to connect PSVR up to your PC.

How To Connect PSVR To A PC

Here's our easy-to-follow guide on how to connect PSVR up to a PC.

Step 1

As the PSVR isn't natively supported on PC, to get it working, first of all, you'll need to download a piece of software, such as Trinus PSVR.

To download it, simply head to the site and press the download button. What this will do is install all the relevant drivers to make sure Windows can recognise your headset.

Step 2

Once it's downloaded, you'll need to plug your HDMI cable into the PS4 HDMI port on the PSVR's processing unit, and then the other end into your PC's port.

If you don't have an HDMI port, you can get an adapter to convert it to DisplayPort, if that's easier.

Step 3

Then, plug in your USB cable to both the processing unit and your PC. For this, you can use any USB port, be it USB 2.0 or 3.0, but of course using USB 3.0 will provide you with the best performance.

Step 4

Turn on your headset. If everything is set up correctly, Windows should recognise your PSVR as a separate display.

Step 5

On your PC, head into the Display Settings under System and make sure, under the 'Multiple Displays' setting, that the option is set to extend your desktop to the display, with a resolution of 1920x1080.

Once this is all done, then you should be ready to go and play some of your favourite PCVR titles using your PSVR headset.

So, there you have it, that's how to set up your PSVR with a PC, and it all looks to be pretty convenient to do.

Does PSVR run better on PC or PlayStation?

It would be reasonable to state that as PSVR is specifically designed for usage with PlayStation that it would run better on Sony's own console than using a PC.

On the front of which PlayStation works best for PSVR though, it's a tough choice, especially as PSVR works with PS5 as well as the original PS4. On this, we'd say that PSVR runs better on PS5 thanks to quicker load times.
