Since it emerged from early access, Baldur’s Gate 3 has surpassed a lot of expectations, having attracted a huge amount of players keen to experience all it has to offer on PC, with those on other platforms now beginning to join in on the fun.

Despite some debate around the “cut content” data miners believed they’d found in the game’s files, it’s enjoyed a positive reception, in addition to inspiring some very interesting speedruns and bizarre challenges.

While the game’s modding scene has plenty to offer those who’re in need of a way to spice up their latest playthrough, some new content has also been arriving via Larian’s patches and hotfixes, with the next big one being set to deliver something players have been requesting since the game came out.

Are you glad you’ll finally be able to give your Tav a new look when Baldur’s Gate 3’s third patch arrives?

As part of patch three for Baldur’s Gate 3, which Larian has said is “a big one”, players are finally going to be getting the means to change their character’s appearance mid-playthrough. That’s right, the studio has finished cooking.

The means to do so will be provided by a Divinity: Original Sin 2-style magic mirror, which’ll be located in your camp and can be used to alter your Tav’s appearance, voice, and pronouns.

So, if you’ve been stuck with an unfashionable hairstyle or an unfortunately-shaped nose ever since you made it off the Nautiloid, you’re in luck! Though, if you were hoping to switch up your character’s race or body type, the mirror won’t be able to help you out. Alterations to origin characters are also off the table.

As you can imagine given the fervour with which this feature was requested, the player reaction to its announcement has been very positive.

“I CAN FINALLY DO MY HAIR UP NICE FOR KARLACH'S DATE!!!!!!!!” one fan bellowed in response to Larian’s tweet, while others have simply declared how relieved they are that they won’t have to start new saves every time they want to try out a new look.

While Baldur’s Gate 3’s third patch was originally due to arrive on September 21, bringing with it full support for the game on Mac, Larian announced late yesterday that it’s been delayed until September 22, in order “to ensure thorough testing”.
