While many GTA players are just trying to enjoy their remaining time in Los Santos by filling up their new 50-car garage with exotic cars or spending some extra time with Dr Dre, some are already looking forward to GTA 6.
After all, aren’t you curious to see what kinds of vehicles will be available in the new game, how it might incorporate mechanics from other titles, or whether you’ll be tasked with saving the world during your first playthrough?
Though all of this likely won’t be known until the game finally arrives, some players are currently discussing what they’d like Rockstar to do with regards to acknowledging the influence of the series’ previous resident of Vice City.
How do you think GTA 6 should pay homage to the original crime king of Vice City?
Their homage-based hopes form the subject of a recent thread on the GTA 6 subreddit, which began with a post from user dlovan666, who kicked things off by asking: “How do you want Rockstar (Games) to reference Tommy Vercetti in GTA 6?”.
Most of the other nostalgic criminals in the thread agreed that the game will likely feature a few allusions to the eighties gangster, especially with Vercetti’s voice actor, Ray Liotta, having died in 2022 and began coming up with ideas of how these could be implemented.
“Like O'Creagh's Run (in Red Dead Redemption 2), they will (probably) name a beautiful place something like Liotta Beach or Lake Ray.” said user plasticbluepalm, while Bananaramamammoth suggested: “As for the actual Tommy Vercetti character, I think a couple of storefronts with ‘Vercetti…’ signage as an homage, just (to show) how much of the city the Vercetti Gang controlled, would be a good enough touch.”
Others focused in on one particular property associated with the character, with user JFrost47 declaring: “The Vercetti estate mansion (existing on the map) would be a nice touch, even if you couldn’t go inside.” and BeauCaliente00 presting the idea that the estate could be abandoned and overgrown, allowing Rockstar to hide a White Infernus Classic in the garage.
Meanwhile, user TheArgonianBoi77 outlined their desire to be able to unlock and wear a tribute to Vice City’s protagonist, proposing: “(Achieving) 100% completion and earning Tommy’s famous blue Hawaiian shirt as a reward (would be cool).”
