While some GTA Online players are already looking forward to GTA 6, others are still trying to enjoy everything that Los Santos has to offer by getting up to wacky hijinks and spending all of their hard-earned cash.

After all, if you don’t enjoy trying to predict what the next game’s map will look like, lack any hot takes regarding what or who it should include, and have given up agonising over how you’ll earn back your current fortune if the new game includes tax mechanics, why not just try to appreciate the final stretch of GTA Online?

While some players are currently trying to do just that by digging into its Halloween-themed events, many on PC have been left puzzled by one of the changes supposedly enacted by a recent patch for the game.

Do you think GTA Online needs a new anti-cheat system?

This development is the subject of a recent thread on the GTA Online subreddit, which began with a post from user PapaXan, who shared a screenshot of a tweet from @TezFunz2, a user well known for monitoring updates to Rockstar games, which claimed: “In an odd move, the latest GTA V PC patch removes essential components of the anti-cheat system.”

Having suggested that “approximately 95% of the anti-cheat system” had been removed by the patch, TezFunz2 elaborated that they believe that the missing components of the system hadn’t been included in the patch due to the game build it was made using.

Players in the Reddit thread mainly reacted to this in two ways, with many assuming that the change is simply a harbinger of more updates to come, such as user issoooo saying: “They will probably implement a new anti-cheat system” and DFrek adding: “I guess (hope) they have a plan.”

Meanwhile, a litany of users questioned how effective that game’s anti-cheat system had actually been, with Y2KillingJoke saying: “I didn't even realise there was anti-cheat in this game.” and Cosmo_X adding: “The dang thing couldn’t even detect when someone spawned in a giant robot made of tanks and Lazer (jets) as tall as a skyscraper.”
