GTA Online’s heist grinders are drowning in a sea of Cayo Perico tequila

While some GTA Online players are already looking forward to GTA 6, others are still trying to enjoy everything that Los Santos has to offer by getting up to wacky hijinks and spending all of their hard-earned cash.

After all, if you don’t enjoy trying to predict what the next game’s map will look like, lack any hot takes regarding what or who it should include, and have given up agonising over how you’ll earn back your current fortune if the new game includes tax mechanics, why not just try to appreciate the final stretch of GTA Online?

However, at least one player is still seemingly on the heist grind, though they aren’t very happy with the rewards their dedication to making bank has been sending their way recently.

Have you been getting a lot of alcohol-based heist rewards lately?

Their frustration is the subject of a recent thread on the GTA Online subreddit, which began with a post from the player in question, user SirBeardwood, who shared a screenshot of the bounty awaiting them during their latest run through the Cayo Perico heist and asked: “Anyone else solely getting tequila and that’s it?”

They also added: “17 heists in a row now… tequila everytime… I feel like it’s me being penalised for heisting alone.”

A number of other players suggested that they’d been experiencing a similar trend in recent runs through the heist, with user nespeti suggesting that they’d been getting a lot of liquor despite not playing solo.

Some in the thread suggested that these experiences are the result of a recent update to the game which supposedly nerfed the heist in question, as one user explained: “Each successive heist in a 72 hour period will lower the chance of getting any loot beyond tequila, and accordingly raise the values of secondary loot (so that players who choose to farm can do so without losing too much income).”

However, user NoYogurt8022 presented an alternative theory, saying: “You robbed El Rubio so often that he is now an alcoholic.”
